FHKI Concluded a 5-day Delegation Mission to Vietnam
Exchanged MoU with Vietnam National Innovation Center (NIC)
The Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI) concluded its five-day delegation mission visiting Vietnam between 30 May and 3 Jun (the “Vietnam Delegation Mission”). In particular, the delegates visited three major cities in Vietnam, namely, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, and Hanoi. During their stay, the delegation visited government ministries, including, the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) and Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC), and, also, two National-level high-tech parks as well. The Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam, Xiong Bo, also received the delegation.
Further, FHKI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Vietnam National Innovation Center (NIC), witnessed by the Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Duy Dong (2 Jun). The MOU aims to establish a framework for collaboration between the NIC and FHKI in supporting innovation development and promoting investment growth within the industrial sector in Vietnam and Hong Kong and, also, strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation between the business communities of both parties.
In addition, FHKI jointly hosted an Investment Forum (2 Jun) with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in Hanoi. The event was well attended by elites from the business community from Vietnam and Hong Kong and provided an opportunity for attendees to not only share their experiences but also seek potential collaboration opportunities. All those who were present at the Investment Forum also witnessed the exchange of the MOU between FHKI and NIC at the occasion.
At the conclusion of the visit, as the delegation leader, FHKI Chairman Dr Sunny Chai noted that the interactions among the delegates, the Vietnamese officials and industry representatives have greatly enhanced the understanding of the Hong Kong business community towards the industry development and favouring policies in Vietnam, leading to even more accurate investment decisions going forward. Dr Chai remarked, “In recent years, both the Hong Kong and the Vietnamese governments have allocated significant resources in the I&T field. Both markets can continue to learn from each other tapping further into each other’s valuable experience.”
The Vietnam Delegation Mission was organised by FHKI International Affairs Committee and led by FHKI Chairman Dr Sunny Chai. Members of the delegation, included, FHKI Executive Deputy Chairmen Steve Chuang, Anthony Lam, Ricky Chan and Clara Chan; FHKI Deputy Chairmen Jude Chow; FHKI Director-General Bonnie Chan and representatives from the Hong Kong manufacturing and innovation sectors.
FHKI expresses its utmost appreciation for the unfailing support of its partners, including, Circle K Vietnam, the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, KPMG and the Hong Kong Standards and Testing Centre. Without their generous sponsorships and contributions, the Vietnam Delegation Mission will not be as successful!
