FHKI Signs MoU with EdCity

Promoting Industry-Academia Collaboration and Talent Development

 

　　Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI) participated as an exhibitor at the Learning & Teaching Expo 2026 and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hong Kong Education City (EdCity) at the exhibition. The collaboration aims to promote digital education and industry-academia integration, nurturing talent to support the development of the Northern Metropolis and Hong Kong’s new industrialisation.

　　Witnessed by Ricky Chan, Executive Deputy Chairman of FHKI, and Carmen Ho, a member of the board of directors of EdCity, the MoU was co-signed by Peter Shum, Deputy Chairman of FHKI and Chairman of the Education Committee, and Dr Tenny Lam, Executive Director of EdCity.

　　Under the MoU, FHKI and EdCity will exchange insights and coordinate efforts in areas including talent development, market information, scientific research and vocational prestige. Through regular joint programmes, the two organisations will promote the integration of education, technology and talent development, strengthen industry-academia collaboration, and enhance AI and STEAM education in primary and secondary schools. The partnership will help equip students with digital literacy and relevant knowledge, preparing them to meet the future needs of emerging industries.

　　Ricky Chan, Executive Deputy Chairman of FHKI, stated, “Digital and innovation education has become an important trend amid the rapid development of AI and innovative technologies. FHKI looks forward to working closely with EdCity to respond to national development priorities and keep pace with the times. By combining Hong Kong’s industrial achievements, quality education and cutting-edge scientific research, this collaboration will help promote digital and innovation education in a way that suits Hong Kong’s development model and needs, thereby nurturing a new generation of talent for the sustainable development of emerging industries.”
　　Peter Shum, Deputy Chairman of FHKI and Chairman of the Education Committee, stated, "Edtech products and solutions have emerged rapidly in recent years, and the quality and effectiveness of market offerings have drawn increasing scrutiny. FHKI aims to set higher standards and through certification, branding and cross-sector collaboration, drive the broader education ecosystem forward. Only solutions that truly meet the needs of teaching and learning can create lasting value for students, schools and parents, and the education industry as a whole."

　　The Learning & Teaching Expo 2026 is being held over three days from 25 to 27 June at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Participating as an exhibitor for the second consecutive year, FHKI has arranged for four Q STEM-certified companies to showcase their high-quality STEM education products, while inviting industry representatives to share the practical applications and future prospects of the Q STEM Certification Scheme in edtech and standardisation. Peter Shum, Deputy Chairman of FHKI and Chairman of the Education Committee, also served as a guest speaker at the panel discussion preceding the MoU signing ceremony, sharing the latest developments in digital education and the industry’s views on curriculum design, future skills needs and school reform, with a view to narrowing the skills gap and building a talent pool for new industries and innovation development.
