HKSTP and FHKI Co-organise “Innopreneur Experience Journey” Cohort 4
New Biotechnology Enterprises Broaden Students’ Career Horizons

The fourth cohort of the “Innopreneur Experience Journey” concluded today with a closing ceremony at Hong Kong Science Park. Co-organised by the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) and Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI), the event brought together Ms. Fanny Wong, Chief Talent Officer of HKSTP, and Mr. Anthony Lam, Chairman of FHKI, along with representatives from participating enterprises and students, to celebrate the programme’s success.

This year’s six-week journey further enhanced the “Executive Shadowing” placement, extending it from two to three days, enabling students to gain deeper insights into corporate decision-making, product development, and operational processes. The experience journey provided a comprehensive understanding of the skills required for careers in emerging industries and innovation and technology.

Generously sponsored for the fourth consecutive year by Sino Group and the Hong Kong Innovation Foundation, the programme also received valuable support from several partners. These included our new partner this year, the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals; the Po Leung Kuk Life Planning and Financial Education Centre; and the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong Tsuen Wan Centre, further enriching students’ learning opportunities.

Leveraging the robust innovation ecosystems and industry networks of HKSTP and FHKI, the programme matched over 50 students with 19 enterprises, including members of FHKI’s newly established Biotechnology and Healthcare Council. This collaboration strengthened ties between education and industry, offering students not only observational learning but also hands-on experience with advanced technologies such as surgical robots and scientific instruments. Participants gained practical insights into Industry 4.0 applications and the end-to-end process from R&D to operations.

In her remarks, Ms. Fanny Wong, Chief Talent Officer of HKSTP, said: “The ‘Innopreneur Experience Journey’ provides secondary students a unique opportunity to engage directly with industry leaders, bridging the gap between academia and industry and inspiring young people to pursue innovation and technology. We are delighted to see students actively engaging in R&D and operational activities, experiencing first-hand how technology drives industrial advancement. HKSTP remains dedicated to nurturing future talent through initiatives that stimulate creativity, encourage innovation, and support career development. Going forward, we will continue to partner with innovation enterprises to offer more industry-led experiences and work with all sectors to strengthen Hong Kong’s innovation talent pool.”

Mr. Anthony Lam, Chairman of FHKI, was pleased to see students drawing inspiration from the programme. He hopes that more young people will be encouraged to pursue careers in the industrial and innovative technology sectors. "In the age of artificial intelligence and big data, innovative thinking and technology have become the key drivers of social progress," Chairman Lam stated. "Furthermore, innovation technology and new industries are set to become vital engines for Hong Kong's economic development. Supported by the Education Committee, FHKI has collaborated with HKSTP to host this programme for four consecutive years. Our precise aim is to motivate students to consider STEM-related fields in their career planning and to seize the opportunities presented by the innovation technology era. FHKI is committed to fostering continued, close collaboration between industry and academia to jointly cultivate the talent required to establish an International Innovation and Technology Centre."

To encourage students to transform their creativity and passion into practical, real-world solutions, this year’s programme continued to feature the “Star Student Award.” After a preliminary assessment, the top four finalists presented their insights during the final judging session at the closing ceremony, reflecting on their three-day work experiences and personal growth. A panel of judges from FHKI, HKSTP, and Sino Group awarded gold, silver, bronze, and merit prizes valued over HK$8,000, recognizing the innovative potential of these young talents and their contributions to the future of the industry.
