FHKI Group 32 (Hong Kong Automation Technology Council) and The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) successfully co-organised the visit to Chow Tai Fook and Xiaopeng on 12 May 2026 (Tuesday). The event brought members to visit leading advanced manufacturing enterprises in Mainland China, offering in-depth insights into the latest developments in smart manufacturing and automation technologies.

The delegation was led by Prof Andrew Young, Chairman of the HKATC, Dr Zhou Ling, Vice-chairman and Mr Raymond Shan, Chairman of the Manufacturing, Industrial & Systems Division of HKIE. Prof Daniel M Cheng, Honorary President of the FHKI, also attended in support of the event, fostering high-level and practical professional exchanges.

In the morning, the group visited the Chow Tai Fook's Artisanal Innovation Centre. Through corporate presentations and on-site tours of the jewellery production lines, members gained a deeper understanding of Chow Tai Fook’s advancements in smart manufacturing and innovative craftsmanship. In the afternoon, the delegation visited XPeng's new Smart EV Manufacturing Base and Tech Park, touring its automotive history gallery, exhibition hall, and automated production lines. Participants learned about XPeng’s practical experience in smart electric vehicles and its “XPeng Land Carrier” flying car concept. The programme was rich in content and facilitated vibrant exchanges throughout the day.
