Zhaoqing, Guangdong Province, is a gateway connecting the Greater Bay Area to the Southwestern part of the country while Guangning, a County under Zhaoqing is well known for bamboo plantation and bamboo-made products. FHKI Bamboo Industry Committee (BIC) Chairman Martin Tam led a four-day mission with more than 30 members to visit Guangning.  Other FHKI leadership who joined the mission included BIC Vice Chairmen Alan So, Dr Alexander Yiu and Joseph Lau.

Participants visited various enterprises and factories, such as Guangning WareZone Bamboo and Wooden Crafts Products Co Ltd, Shenzhen Light Wave Communication Co Ltd, Guangdong Kangdi Green Biological Technology Co Ltd and Guangning Yada Industrial Co Ltd to learn about the latest bamboo technology, new applications of bamboo products as well as sustainable use of bamboo.  Besides, they visited Bamboo Culture Musuem and a bamboo tourist attraction “Zhuhaidaguan” to gain an in-depth understanding of the evolution of bamboo products.

The mission was received by Guangning County People’s Government Deputy County Mayor Wen Zhen-peng, who gave an overview of Guangning’s overall economic environment, and the recent developments of bamboo industry. Delegates had a fruitful discussion and exchange with the Deputy Mayor.
